New cuddly characters that are designed to help children understand disability from a young age will be joining the National Young Disabled Persons’ Day fun and celebrations at this year’s Mobility Roadshow from 7th - 9th July at Donington Park, near Derby

Exhibitor Rackety’s hopes cute Tilly doll and funky Jonathan teddy will help children to understand disability in society - a subject they are often unsure or awkward about. Each toy, named after and inspired by local disabled children, comes complete with wheelchair and are being launched at the Roadshow. Rackety’s range of cool clothing for disabled kids includes t-shirts with slogans such as ‘Wicked on Wheels’ and ‘There’s no need to stare I know I’m cool’ – helping disabled kids look fab and feel great.

Young people with disabilities will be a major focus of this year’s Roadshow. There will be lots of fun activities and services available for children and young people including, from Dragon Mobility, the latest elevating powerchair and, on the Tomcat stand the UK’s lightest special needs trike for children.

The winner of the Ready, Willing and Mobile competition will be announced on the first day, with guest of honour Tanni Grey-Thompson presenting prizes. Launched earlier this year the competition called for bright ideas from young children to help disabled kids on the move.

On a separate section of the Donington Park circuit, disabled teenagers can take their first driving lesson. The ‘BSM Corsa Challenge’ is a great way for anyone aged 15 plus to find out more about learning to drive. To jump-start enthusiasm, participants also take away a voucher for a free driving lesson with BSM. You can pre-register on the Roadshow website - www.mobilityroadshow.co.uk

The Mobility Roadshow is free and open daily from 10am. Keep up to date with news and developments on the website - www.mobilityroadshow.co.uk or call 0870 770 3222 for more information.
